Acute hemorrhagic edema of young children is a skin limited small vessel leukocytoclastic vasculitis. The diagnosis is made on a clinical basis in subjects with following characteristics:

Age ≤24 months

Skin eruptions
-
Lesions: violent onset of a) purpuric or ecchymotic target-like lesions and b) often tender non pitting edema

Localization: cheeks, ears and extremities (with relative sparing of the trunk)

Not-ill-appearing

Prognosis: the disease spontaneously recovers in 1-2 weeks
